shit hot release from the super consistent sex tags crew !! footnotes was the bergen, norway based label run by bjørn torske with only two releases, the late 1997 house classic and collectors item “haribo” by erot and the way too underrated dub-house 12” “farlig fiffus” by krisp. in 2002 the laqcuers for the third release were cut and all ready for the press, but for some obscure reason it never made it to the actual pressing. in the end lacquers were demolished and the mastertape got lost. several years later the mastertape showed up in a tower of old tapes and mastercuts. recovered by the sex tags mania crew, now seven years after it’s origibnal releasedate, doc l junior’s two classic and brilliant house and disco tracks are ready for a proper release. as a tribute, a longing for old days, sex tags mania will releases footnotes 3 in april 2009..

asd008 sees the return of alex krueger and a welcome one at that! this oneÆs 5 tracks deep (including a digital exclusive) and includes a pair of fine remixes from londoner-in-berlin, mark henning, ôblasted bitchö is tigerskin at his best. the title cut is a feast of sonic trickery, with sounds playing off each other beautifully to create a wide, dense soundscape which, paired with clipped percussion, clever dancefloor arrangement, evil laugh & crude vocal sample this one delivers tough. henning, a man known for his abilities with sound design himself, takes a darker route with his interpretation which, while still driving, is more of a heads down late night affair û riddled with oddball delays and some unnerving vox efx. ôwhat theö takes a turn to the darkside, moody, sharp, reveb laden and pulsing, the track is real heavy business watch out for that unholy belgian hardcore synth riff a la ômentasmö, thereÆs a real æmomentÆ in there. to round off the original cuts. responseö continues seeing tigerskin provide a straighter groove but one which displays some sterling keyboard work and strong break. finally, henning provides another remix of the title track as the digital only addition all too important these days. futuristic deep, tech-house is about as close as a description anyone needs for this superb final piece of an equally superb package.

following on from 2006s debut lp path of the gods, arne weinbergs second album will take you on a musical passage from alpha to omega and demonstrate the diversion of arnes palette of sounds. too many modern techno albums feature just a collection of tracks with no real story to tell, arnes second album aims to be more than just that and pushes further the boundaries of modern techno music. from the dark and mystic feel of everlasting to the floor shaking grooves of nightstalker and eclectic spiral or the deep electro influenced ambience of synthetic dissection and with trembling hands this album has it all.

spectrum continues to move full steam ahead into 2009, and follows with another solid release this time courtesy of marco bailey with his track spektral. this deep and dubby groover is sure to keep the progressive heads happy but still carries enough weight to keep the all techno tots smiling too, a seriously good track from the belgian techno don.

this obscure lost soundtrack for an even more obscure (and also lost and never finished) italia violenta cop movie was recently discovered when i bought the dusty reel tapes from a restaurant owner in fiumicino, a seaside town near rome. panter 777 aka il labirinto di roma violenta aka the maze of violence, he told me, was directed by gervasio giardano in 1981 and was considered too (politically) explicit by the movie production company who dropped the project after the first screening. the soundtrack, an explosion of wahwah funk riffs and juicy analog synthesizers, was composed by an obscure band called nacho patrol. the restaurant owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of the band members and composed most of the tracks.
